Restoring Your Digestive Health: The Culprit of Disease Part I

Vlog

As strange as it might sound, the digestive system is a topic I speak with much interest because it is one of the most ignored organs in the health and wellness sphere, yet all diseases begin in the colon…if you are not taking care of it properly. Many people t end to laugh at the topic of an upset colon but for many, it’s a devastating problem.

According to the National Digestive Diseases Information Clearinghouse:

  • (2000) 63 million people suffer from Chronic Constipation resulting in 137 deaths in 2004
  • (2004) 20 million people suffer with Gallstones in 2004 resulting in 1,092 deaths
  • (1998) 135 million people suffer with Nonfood-borne Gastroenteritis resulting in 4,396 deaths in 2004
  • (2006) 75 percent of the U.S. population older than 45 suffer with Hemorrhoids
  • (1998) 359,000 people suffer with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s disease) resulting in 622 deaths in 2004
  • (1998) 15.3 million suffer with Irritable Bowel Syndrome resulting in 20 deaths in 2004
  • (1998) 1.1 million people have Pancreatitis resulting in 3,480 deaths in 2004
  • and in (2004) 60 to 70 million people affected by all digestive diseases resulted in 236,164 deaths and spent $97.8 billion direct medical costs and $44 billion indirect costs (e.g., disability and mortality)

Not really a laughing matter is it? And do you ever wonder why this is such a problem in the U.S.?

In the U.S. we consume too many Omega 6 fats, sugar, caffeine, etc. Yes, but we DO NOT consume enough fiber, natural detox foods, water, and/or other foods that are good for restoring your digestive health.

Not only that, but there are number of things that wreck havoc on the colon and it’s ability to function, or get rid of toxins which causes a series of other health problems such as headaches, acne, anxiety, night terrors, mental fogginess, etc. besides painful gas and indigestion.

In Part II I’ll be discussing some of the causes of these painful afflictions, what to avoid, and aids in restoring your digestive health!

Until then, please share these statistics with your friends on facebook and twitter! Also please share your thoughts by commenting below. The colon is a complex and important organ so stay tuned for Part II! It will be a big eye opener!
